Dee Jay was born in Salt Lake City, Utah to artist parents, his father Dale John Bawden was a wood carver and his mother Lucille was an Illustrator. Dee Jay has studied at the University of Utah under noted sculptor, Ed Fraughton. Dee Jay is a world renowned Artist who grew up in the sixties and seventies. His life was filled with much joy and disappointment, but growing up he had a constant and deep love for his family, artwork, and most of all the Savior... Bawden’s
diverse interests are skillfully demonstrated in Sculptures as well as
paintings and drawings of the religious nature. As a child, Bawden
demonstrated an early interest in sculpture and was turning out
sculptures, and selling several bronze statues before graduating high
school. His early years were focused primarily in western theme: bronze
animals, mountain men, and Indians. Since 1980, he has done numerous
religious works, including life size bust of Christ, and larger than
life Christus monuments, as well as various commissioned monuments for
churches, schools and businesses. DJ’s
artwork has been in galleries and privately owned through out the world,
and his monuments now dot the globe where they are enjoyed by many.
